Mothers Union

ANGLICAN MOTHERS UNION AUSTRALIA - AMUA is a mission agency of the Anglican Church of Australia and is a part of the worldwide Mothers’ Union. AMUA seeks to share Christ’s love by encouraging, strengthening and supporting marriage and family life, particularly those whose lives have met with adversity. Membership is open to any baptised Christian who supports its aims and objectives, so men, women, singles and marrieds - not just mothers – are welcome. AMUA provides a network to serve Christ in the parish, the community, and worldwide, through prayer, financial support, and actively working in programmes that meet local needs.

Here at St Augustine’s, Merewether AMUA meets monthly in the parish hall  on the 4thWednesday at 10am to enjoy Christian fellowship in a varied and interesting programme of talks, discussions, outings, craft and fun. We usually start with a cuppa, and some like to join for lunch afterwards at the local Bowlo. Attendance at meetings is not obligatory for membership – we can provide resources and opportunities to serve beyond meeting times, such as helping in the parish Baptism ministry with communication and gifts. We provide lovely Joy Boxes to folk we know who are going through a tough time. We attend the Children’s Court at Broadmeadow to offer Coffee and Care, and we visit mothers in maternity hospitals with hand-made gifts for new babies. We also try to give practical aid to local people in need such as victims of domestic violence and homelessness. We offer prayer and financial support for our 4.1 million Mothers Union members in Northern Australia and overseas, where the needs are great, the will to help is strong, but resources are few.

We love to throw a party for an AMUA good cause, or for a celebration. We welcome new members – why not join us?  For more information phone Jeanette on 4963 3068.
