Baptism is the beginning and foundation for Christian life. It is the means of receiving and sharing in the divine life of Christ.

Baptism is like a door that gives us access to other sacraments of the Christian Church (Eucharist, Confirmation, Marriage, Ordination, Reconciliation, and Holy Anointing) which help us to become the image and the likeness of God, children of the one Heavenly Father. Baptism is therefore the beginning of a journey to become a child of God, after the likeness of Jesus.

How do get my child baptised?

Contace the parish office by telephone or e-mail to arrange the time and date for the baptism.

Baptisms will occur on the second, third and fourth Sundays of the month (Fifth Sundays are available as well) at 9:00am or 11:00am Service. As a part of the process leading up to Baptism we would ask that you attend a church service and a short preparation meeting following the service on the first Sunday of the month (Unless otherwise arranged with the Parish Priest). This is a short meeting when Fr Cameron will take you through the details of the celebration.

As a part of orgnaising your Baptism you will need to think about who you want to have as sponsors or godparents. Normally three godparents are chosen. Two are of the same gender as the child. However, two or four godparents can be chosen. There is a requirement that the godparents be baptised Christians. This is because they are making a promise and a commitment for the child to be a member of the Church and to believe the Christian faith. However, they do not necessarily have to be members of the Anglican Church. If, however, they are not baptised you may like to invite them to consider baptism for themselves.

Memories are important and we understand that you may like to have some photos or a video taken as a part of your valuable memories of this wonderful occasion. Please feel free to take photos during the service and after the service.

There is no fee for baptism. It is a privilege and a pleasure for us to be able to offer this sacrament. If you wish, however, to make a donation, you may put it in the offering plate that is circulated during the service or give it to the priest who takes your baptism service.

You will receive a certificate of baptism as an official record, and godparents will also be given a card reminding them of the date and the responsibilities they have undertaken on your child's behalf. In order to provide these, we will need you to fill out full details on the Baptism Application Form, which can be downloaded at the bottom of the page. Alternatively, we can send out the form on request by post when you make your booking. Please make sure you complete and return this form to us as soon as possible.
